WAHM Tip of the Week

If you host parties, how many guests bring a child? In my experience I can count on at minimum of 1 child per party. Carry with you coloring books, puzzles, crayons, or any other small activity. If old enough you can even have that child help! Keeping that child interested not only allows mom to shop but also gives you a child that had just a good of time as the other guests!

WAHM Tip of the Week

Do you hold home parties? Recycle those old real estate signs. Contact a local real estate office or a sign shop and ask about old real estate signs. Revamp them to note where a party is. Most have a plastic container that holds flyers. Next time you have a home party, yours or a hostess, take the sign and post for guests to easily find. Attach balloons to make these noticeable and fill with flyers so others can take one as they pass by.

WAHM Tip of the Week

As a WAHM we tend to grab food on the go. Most times these are unhealthy snacks and meals. Those unhealthy snacks and meals equal unwanted pounds. Have healthy snacks on hand throughout the day. The night before while making dinner or lunches for the next day, prepare healthy meals for yourself. Opt for cut fresh fruit, veggies, and cheese. Create a healthy salad and use the meat from the night before on your salad. Have several bottles of water available daily and skip the soda. If its not in reach, its not convenient.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Get dressed in the morning. Get ready for the day just as you would if you had a job outside the home. Getting ready for the day helps you feel refreshed. Getting out of bed and straight to work keeps you feeling sluggish through the day. Prepared for the day makes for a productive day.

WAHM Tip of the Week

As a WAHM you are likely to have a spouse or significant other. Work and family can be a balancing act that love can often be left out of. Don't let that happen. One hour a week make time to spend quality time with that special person in your life. Watch a movie, sip a cup of tea and talk, play a game. Make it the same day a week and same time. Neither of you will forget and it becomes habit. This is one habit you don't want to kick.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Have extra magazines laying around? Donate them to a office with a lobby. Add a large label to the front of the magazine with "Donated by" and include your name, business info, and contact information. Add a small pocket on the inside cover and place business cards inside. Donate these to your local Dr's office, lobby for your local tire, oil change, or mechanic shop, vets office, salon, or even a teachers lounge. Don't have any magazines? Ask family and friends to save these for you and pick them up.

WAHM Tip of the Week

With the holidays around the corner, men often find shopping a drag. Make it men friendly by having a men's holiday shopping party. Offer products on cash and carry individually and in premade sets, gift wrapping service, even delivery. Make available dinner such as a BBQ spread to be more inviting. This is a great way to bring in men as customers even with a woman's company. Men will thank you.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Many cell phone companies are beginning to offer navigation applications for your cell phone. These are very useful when getting directions to host parties, deliver product, or even find your way to the vendor fair. Not only will you get directions but you can calculate distance for mileage cost (tax purposes) and time estimates to ensure you will arrive in a timely manner. Check with your cell phone company and add this to your plan.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Create an office space. This should be strictly for work and not a combined place of use. You want this space dedicated to work so it is not overrun with family life. This can be a corner of a room or an entire room. Do all your work in this space and make it clear this is your work space.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Establish consistent office hours. This might be difficult in the beginning. Its tough for family to understand that just because you are at home you are still working. Your office hours should be the same time every day. Even when you feel ill you still need to be at work. If you must, create a sign that clearly indicates you are in fact working and even post your office hours.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Keep tabs your customer's birthdays, anniversaries, and send a card. Along with the card send a small gift or gift certificate. The gesture will be greatly appreciated and creates long lasting customer relationships.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Have extra inventory? Know other WAHMs who are in the same boat? Hold a shared party. You each have a great guest list that will be combined for a great turnout. Share in the refreshments. Have cash and carry inventory ready for the party and take orders. With the holidays fast approaching this is a great way to assist customers with easy, fun, shopping.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Next time you pack a shipment, use real air popped popcorn. Not only is it easy on the wallet, it is safe for the environment including animals. You don't have to store this. You pop what you need when you need it. Do not use salt or oil on your popcorn as this can damage products. Popcorn is extremely light weight so your shipments will not be weighted down with heavy packing materials. Best of all if you have a little left over, you can sit back and relax with a popcorn snack.

WAHM Tip of the Week

Have old forms, papers printed incorrectly? Cut these into smaller sections. Cut in half then in half again. Stack several together. Staple at the top or punch a hole in each corner at the top. Connect these together for a new notepad.

Take those stapled note pads and wrap a printed label that fits the width of your new notepad with your business info and give to customers. This is a great way to recycle and show your customers you care.

WAHM Tip Of The Week

Get a magnet in the mail that you don't intend to use? Have one that is fade? Recycle it and glue a favorite picture of your children on the front.

Cut those old business card magnets into squares and glue on old buttons, lone decorative rocks, scrap of old material, rhinestones or even silk flowers.

You can even recycle by gluing on your own business card and sharing with a friend.

Offer these tips to your customers as part of your relationship building. They will thank you for it.
