Spamming is the abuse of electronic messaging systems to indiscriminately send unsolicited bulk messages. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, Online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam and junk fax transmissions.
Spamming remains economically viable because advertisers have no operating costs beyond the management of their mailing lists, and it is difficult to hold senders accountable for their mass mailings. Because the barrier to entry is so low, spammers are numerous, and the volume of unsolicited mail has become very high. The costs, such as lost productivity and fraud, are borne by the public and by Internet service providers, which have been forced to add extra capacity to cope with the deluge. Spamming is widely reviled, and has been the subject of legislation in many jurisdictions.Persons who create electronic spam are called spammers.

Did you know spamming is illegal? It sure is. It is not just illegal for companies but also individuals.

Did you know that each spam you send or engage in can cost you up to $11,000? And you thought a gallon of milk was expensive.

Don't get caught in something you thought was harmless. Get informed. As a WAHM you are in business and you are required to follow the laws of spam.

Many times we are taught to send emails to all of our friends and family about sales and new business ventures. While these are rarely ever thought of spam and friends and family do not mind them, they are spam. If you choose to send these emails, they must be brief, to the point, and include an opt out message.

Rule of thumb - DO NOT send any emails, postings, instant messages, to anyone if they have not specifically asked for you to send them information. If you are asked ALWAYS have an explanation how to opt out of future messages and emails.
